Corinne Lüchinger

We spoke with Corinne Lüchinger, Project Engineer in Weidmann’s Fiber Technology Business Area, about her day-to-day work in R&D, her focus on developing and optimizing microfibrillated cellulose technologies, and what motivates her as part of Weidmann’s innovative and team-oriented environment.

Hello Corinne, please tell us about your role at Weidmann.

About five months ago, I joined Weidmann as a Project Engineer in the Fiber Technology Business Area. I work in R&D to establish new manufacturing processes, optimize manufacturing workflows, and advance microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) applications. My role combines hands-on development with strategic thinking, which makes the work both challenging and rewarding.

Where are you based?

I am based at Weidmann headquarters in Rapperswil, Switzerland.

What did you do previously?

Before joining Weidmann, I worked in the fields of liquid filtration and water treatment, holding roles in application engineering, technical sales, marketing, and R&D project management. With my background in food science and engineering, I developed a strong understanding of materials, processes, and quality requirements, which proved highly valuable in these industries. My experiences have given me a broad technical and commercial perspective, and I discovered how much I enjoy collaborating in cross-functional teams to develop solutions with real-world impact.

Why did you decide to join Weidmann?

The position immediately caught my attention because of its varied responsibilities and the opportunity to work with the innovative and technically fascinating material, microfibrillated cellulose. As I learned more during the recruitment process, I was impressed by Weidmann’s corporate culture, one that values respect, curiosity, and collaboration. It aligns strongly with how I like to work and hope to grow professionally.

What is the most enjoyable part of your role, and how does your previous experience influence your work today?

What I enjoy most is the opportunity to apply my diverse background to developing new and exciting microfibrillated, cellulose-based formulations, while working closely with our supportive and experienced team. Bringing together our different perspectives allows us to transform ideas into tangible solutions, from early development stages through sustainable, in-service applications. It is especially rewarding to see the results of our combined work come to life and contribute to more responsible products that have a positive impact on our society and environment.

What do you do to relax?

To relax, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. It helps me recharge and stay balanced. I am also an active member of a local music society, where I play the flute. Playing music together is a great way for me to unwind and tap into a different kind of creativity.

Thanks for speaking with us today!
